Hide Display Field 2

On my add page I have a select box that has a source table with two columns. I have the box set to display Field 1 and Field 2.
Is there a way to hide field 2 in the dropdown? (it contains a long comma separated string of values that I don't want to show) I need to use the Field 2 values in another section of the page so I need for them to be available but not visible.
