Save Field Settings

Save Field Settings

Postby cr84net » Thu Aug 22, 2013 3:05 am

Often I use the same or similar tables for different websites and it would be a real time saver if I could save the field settings for a specific table kind of like a script vault then apply them later to a different table.

This would be like copy field settings but the field settings would be stored from previous projects.

I think this could save me hours by not entering the same text, titles, and other settings over and over again for each project.

A field settings repository like the code repository would allow us to apply sets of settings to any table with matching fields.

I know this isn't the ideal solution, but the project file is in xml format. You can copy the table definition lines from one project file, and paste them into another.

That repository is a great idea. Using my suggestion above, you could at least make a rudimentary repository by saving the table definitions into separate files in a repository folder. In fact, I'm going to begin doing that myself.
